Why design? – Design is the process of problem solving and creativity, whether it be lacing a shoe or building a piece of furniture. The quality of design is of great importance, and the stages in the design process need to be fully understood. The actual piece being designed will reflect this.

At Galloway Fine Furniture I approach the project with the design process being as of equal importance as the making stage. Defining the problem, researching and understanding the constraints are the initial stages I use. The actual creativity and implementation of the design are the last stages.

This helps my clients and myself when it comes to the piece being designed. The clients input and help in the design makes it a very unique piece for them, and there appreciation of the final piece is greatly enhanced.
